Cultural Ambassadors Training, Feb 2011

Cultural Ambassadors Training is designed to help Jordanian youth prepare for interaction and relationship with people of other cultures, and helps them to be effective bridge-builders.
 
 Training sessions will be presented by professional trainers and experts in this field and will address the following topics: Understanding Culture, Understanding Your Own Culture, Prejudice & Stereotyping, Communication Skills, Similarities & Differences, and Being an Ambassador. In addition to the training topic, a guest speaker will share from his or her personal experience. EWI alumni will also help in delivering this course. Course sessions will run from February 2011 until May 2011 in Al Hussein Cultural Center – Ras El Ein - Amman.
Participants will receive a certificate of attendance upon their successful completion of the training and they may have priority for future opportunities with EWI, such as East-West Youth Forum- June 2011.
 

 Objectives

1.      To equip young people to build cross-cultural and inter-faith relationships that lead to friendship and trust.

2.      To raise participants’ awareness of their own culture and beliefs.

3.      To develop appreciation and respect for other cultures and faiths.

4.       To reduce prejudice and negative stereotyping

5.      To equip participants to be good ambassadors for their country and culture.

6.      To prepare participants for cross-cultural experiences such as the East West Youth Forum and other events.

 Participants:

The training is open to university students across Jordan. EWI will select about 40 university students to participate in the training. Selection will be carried out through application forms, and possibly interviews. Participants must be between 18 and 23 years old and self-motivated.

 Training sessions: 
5-hour training sessions, 9:00am-2:00pm, will take place every other Saturday as follows:

-        Opening session (Ice-Breaking)                22/Feb             4:00pm-7:00pm
