Harmony Trip, Feb 2011

Date:
Saturday, February 5, 2011 - 08:00 - 14:00

The World Interfaith Harmony Week was first proposed at the UN General Assembly by H.M. King Abdullah II of Jordan.  On October 20, 2010, it was unanimously adopted by the UN and henceforth the first week of February will be observed as World Interfaith Harmony Week.

As EWI shares a similar vision of bringing people together from different faiths, we launched the Harmony Trip with the support of the Jordanian Center for Exploration and Adventure, Rangers, and the Great Amman Municipality.  The Harmony Trip aimed to create harmony among orphans and marginalized kids, regardless of their faith.  The group visited Muslim and Christian sites, heard from a Priest and a Sheikh, and participated in discussions and team-building games.  The trip was a real success and the kids truly enjoyed themselves.  Those that participated commented on the value of the experience.  One participant, Maya Shalash, said, "It was the best trip of my life."

EWI looks forward to partnering with the World Interfaith Harmony Week in the future!
